Rose Water. Benefits For Hair And Skin. 2 Week Experiment Results And A DIY.

 What are the benefits?

Rose water is known to have more than 100 benefits, but where does it all come from? Roses, of course, are the main ingredient in making this magic potion. So let's take a look at them at first.

In a nutshell - roses are rich in vitamins, just as any plant, vegetable or flower. Some of the main ones include vitamins A, B3, C, D, E. They all have different benefits for your health and beauty, for example vitamin A supports cell renewal, which results to younger looking skin and anti aging.

The experiment.

I tried 2 week rose water experiment, where I added rose water to my skincare and hair routine everyday. What are the results? Unfortunately, no visible ones, but I can feel them! Since my skin is already clean and normal, there is nothing that could possibly get better over 2 weeks, but the overall feeling is different though. My skin feels refreshed and moisturized on daily basis, unlike before I would feel that only about an hour after I applied my moisturizer. Since my skin was moisturized all day long, my makeup didn't start that weird thing where it just cracks in some places. It stayed on for all day looking nice and fresh.

I also read that rose water can reduce redness, which would've come in handy a couple years ago when my face had developed a big red spot below my right eye on my cheekbone, that just would not go away. That would be a great way to test if rose water could reduce that. But I don't have that spot anymore, it went away when I started using my current favorite moisturizer. (More on that, sometime in future) :)
As I said earlier I used rose water on my hair as well. After 3 days of use I could tell that my hair is less frizzy and has developed a healthy shine, as before it was looking pretty dead due to my love for colored hair lol.

In conclusion. I highly recommend rose water in your every day routine. Not only it will make your skin and hair be better in a long term, but it will also give you your daily dose of freshness. I started using it when it was pretty hot outside and I would bring that to me everywhere to just spray on my face and feel refreshed instantly. It is something you will like to use everyday and it will give you long term benefits. Win-win!

Is it worth the money? And a DIY.

Just by looking at the prices of rose water in stores and online, you automatically think that maybe you can live without it, because it's pretty expensive for what it is. It's just water.
So, I did a little research and found a way for you to make it yourself! If you don't want to spend a lot of money or maybe you think that 100% natural is better than the one you can buy - take a look.

How to make your own

You will need:

1. Fresh rose petals
2. Ice cubes
3. Distilled water
4. Stock pot with lid
5. Bowl
6. Bottle with spray cap of your choice

Instructions:

1. Place the bowl in the middle of the stock pot. Bowl should be raised at least couple inches above the rose petals and water. So you can place another bowl upside don to raise it higher.
2. Place the rose petals around the raised bowl. Covering the bottom of the pot. Pour distilled water into the pot until rose petals are just covered.
3. Cover the pot with it's lid upside down. Bring the water to boil.
4. Once the water is boiling, put the ice cubes on top of the inverted lid and lover the heat to a simmer.
5. Simmer for about 20 minutes. The steam from the boiling water will condense on the inverted lid and collect inside the bowl placed inside the pot.
6. Pour the fresh rose water from the bowl into your spray bottle. Let it cool completely and it's good to go!

You can also add other good things to your rose water! One recipe that I found on Pinterest (unfortunately I can't find the original source) is adding 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and 2 tablespoons of Jojoba oil.

And also - rose water can be used as a natural perfume, because it smells so good!!
